About me

passionate about learning something new

Bio

My name is Henok Tekie. I graduated from CU Denver in the Learning Design and Technology program with a focus on eLearning. I am a training development and technology specialist, photographer, videographer and fine art lover. This is my portfolio website where I display my projects, reflect my thoughts and share information's and resources. My resume also lives here. On the portfolio page, I list my projects as a sub page. On the resources page I have a PLN sub page with a list of people/organizations I follow and it helps me in my professional development.

My Experience

I have worked as a Training assistant, Training Development and Technology Specialist and Training Specialist roles in the Office of Lab Animal Resources at the Anschutz Medical Campus. In those roles, I developed, designed, and published training materials, video-based projects, and new hire onboarding resources. I also created and managed eLearning modules and contributed to revamping the department’s training system by helping in creating video-based learning (VBL) and enhanced eLearning solutions to improve training delivery and user engagement. Additionally, I conducted follow-up on new hire training to ensure compliance, identify knowledge gaps and knowledge retention. Alongside my training responsibilities, I have also served as departmental IT support, assisting with the purchasing, setup, troubleshooting, and management of endpoint devices.

My Philosophy

As a fresh graduate, I have worked at the Ministry of Agriculture in Eritrea where we use to teach and demonstrate the use of technology along with improved breeds in increasing egg production for farmers. All of them had hens that lay 50-70 eggs a year and we were teaching them to use breeds that lay 300+ eggs and use technology to attain productivity, that is when I witness how improved technology could change productivity.

While working as a training assistant, I was involved in integrating visual instructions into workplace training materials. This experience sparked my interest in emerging technologies and motivated me to learn, understand, and apply innovative tools to identify challenges and develop solutions that improve and advance training programs.

I believe improved learning design and technology is the present and the future of learning.
